Campgrounds at Lake McClure and Lake McSwain

The best kept secret in California are the campgrounds at Lake McClure and Lake McSwain. With 5 distinct campgrounds situated along and near the famous lakes you are certain to find the perfect RV, tent or cabin camping experience for your next vacation.

Camping sites range from water side camping spots to sites on the hillside with majestic views. Come stay and play. Explore your campground options below.

Lake McSwain Campground

Pack-up the family, come have some fun at Lake McSwain! The Lake McSwain Camping & Recreation area is one of Central California’s best kept secrets. Featuring a marina, general store, and food service. Lake McSwain features tons of great recreational areas and is located just six miles from the town of Snelling. Unlike other lakes, Lake McSwain is an after bay and its water levels are not affected by local water conditions, making it the perfect spot for fishing, swimming, or relaxing family picnics by the water.

McClure Point Camping & Recreation

McClure Point Camping & Recreation area is a favorite spot for thousands of yearly visitors. McClure Point overlooks the largest span of Lake McClure, offering the most water views of all the campgrounds. Not far from New Exchequer Dam, the area is located just seven miles up Lake McClure Road from Lake McSwain.

Lake McClure is renowned for the best bass, trout, and salmon, and offers an excellent opportunity to catch daily bag limits and large trophy fish.

Lake McClure also serves as a water sports paradise. McClure’s often-glassy surface provides runs that are both smooth and picturesque. Whether it’s boating, fishing, wakeboarding, kayaking, or paddling, Lake McClure has something for everyone to enjoy.

Barrett Cove Camping & Recreation

Barrett Cove is the largest of our recreation areas, with more than 200 choice campsites. With many shade trees, amenities, and just a short bit away from Exchequer Bike Park, Barrett Cove makes for a memorable getaway surrounded by California’s natural beauty.

Whether you enjoy fishing, swimming, hiking, or just relaxing under a tree, there’s no shortage of good times to be had at Barrett Cove.

Horseshoe Bend Camping & Recreation

The Horseshoe Bend Camping & Recreation area is a few miles west of the historic town of Coulterville and Highway 49 on Highway 132. A perfect spot for those looking for a quiet and scenic getaway on the lake, Horseshoe Bend has all the enjoyable opportunities of fishing, swimming, hiking, and more.

Bagby Camping & Recreation

The Bagby Camping & Recreation area is located just below the Wild & Scenic Merced River at the inlet of Lake McClure. Offering visitors a unique outdoor experience in a more remote setting, Bagby is all about soaking in all the opportunities a day at the lake can bring.

Splash-n-Dash Aqua Park – North America’s Largest Floating, Inflatable Waterpark

The Central Valley of California’s hottest place to cool off is in our backyard, a 150,000 square foot floating water park! Enjoy over-the-top action and acrobatic thrills as you #FallIntoTheFun.
